McMillan and Frontier Elementary
Right across the street from us, over 350 elementary age students from our neighborhood go to school. Many students come from homes where financial and food security is a challenge. Members of our church sponsor an art program called "Meet the Masters", an intentional partnership with the school to ensure art education for elementary school students. We actively partner with the school administration to see how we can be a blessing to the McMillan and Frontier community. A clothing drive for students who come to school with shoes/pants with too many holes will be delivered to the teachers who create a stockpile for these students in need. We believe a vital partnership with our local public schools is our gateway to sharing God’s love to our community.
Summer Kids Camps
In 2024, Covenant sent 23 souls to Family Camp in the Sawtooths, sent 21 students to overnight church camp with our Christian partners, sponsored Vacation Bible School with over 45 community students, and sponsored our first-ever Art Camp at Covenant, with 37 community students.
Backpack Ministry
Each fall, the Deacons organize a backpack and school supply drive for distribution to local elementary schools. This past year, the Deacons distributed over 100 backpacks to three local elementary schools for students (and families) who could use one.
Boise Rescue Mission
Groups from Covenant regularly prepare and serve meals at the Boise Rescue Mission throughout the year, serving those in our community who are vulnerable and bear the image of Christ.
Investing in a Relationship with St. Paul Baptist Church
St. Paul's is Idaho's largest and oldest historically African-American congregation located here in Boise. We have held a some pulpit exchanges, invested in the life of their Family Education Life Center, and hope to work beside our sisters and brothers of color to advance the gospel of Jesus Christ in the Treasure Valley.
Youth Service Events
A vital component of our youth program is nurturing generosity and service. Throughout the year, our youth group will endeavor on their own youth projects, such as serving meals at the Ronald McDonald house, or helping the Covenant Deacons with their work.
Deacon’s Fund
During the course of our lives unexpected events like layoffs, illnesses and accidents can happen to all of us, and in those times the Deacon’s fund can be used to lighten the burden. It might be a card and flower to the sick, or to pay a utility bill to offer some temporary relief. Whatever the reason for the hardship, we trust God will work through us to provide comfort and share the love of Jesus. Support for the Deacons Fund is through the mercy and generosity of our congregation. Funds are collected every Sunday through the special green envelopes that are available in the church seat rack. We encourage you to support this important ministry as you are able. Contact our office for more information.
Deacon Food Pantry
The purpose of the Deacon’s Food Pantry is to assist individuals and families who are struggling financially by providing food baskets. Donations of items on the list would be appreciated. Contact our office for more information.
Special Events
The deacons also support and help with special events that occur every year, such as supporting families at Christmas with gifts and meals, helping families with school backpacks and supplies at school start and providing the meal at the Trunk and treat event. If you would like to help on any of these events look for announcements in bulletins, newsletters, and on Facebook.
Christmas Angel Tree
The Deacons work with local elementary schools to help families in our immediate area experience the joys of the Christmas season through meals and gifts. Multiple local families are assisted every year.
